Environment
In using the Reggio Emilia Approach the environment is the third teacher. The environment is beautiful to support the imagination and creativity of each child.
At Quail Hollow, the interior spaces are all welcoming, clean and light, and feature children's artwork.

The more time you spend with children, the more you notice how inquisitive they are about the world and how keen is their thinking even about the most subtle things—things which escape materiality, easy recognition, definite forms and the laws of invariance, things you can touch, but not touch, that brush against the real and imaginary, that have something of the mysterious about them and offer wide margins of interpretation.

Additionally, Quail Hollow is fortunate to have extensive space to explore the natural world. The beautiful play area and outdoor classroom that we are able to offer our children would not have been possible without the involvement of our families. As with the interior design for the school, a lot of thought went into the planning of our outdoor environment. The backyard was designed to include areas for group play and individual exploration. The plants, rolling hills, bridge, tunnel, tall grasses and wild grass areas all inspire the Reggio philosophy of the environment as a third teacher. The garden’s “X” design ensures our little ones can easily access the various plants. The play fort supports discovery as children work their way through the various steps, walls and ladders, discovering nooks and crannies that further encourage dramatic play, discovery and exploration.
